and Counselling

Copy of OUR DOULA PACKAGING (6)_edited_e

Birth and debrief counselling is ideal for those who sense the birth process is not yet fully complete. These sessions offer you a space to process and often reclaim your birth experience so that you may feel fully resourced to be present in your new role as a parent.

Are you and your partner seeking to deepen your connection and navigate the joys and challenges of pregnancy, birth and parenting together?

Our Doula birth debriefs and counselling sessions are specifically designed for birth partners and birthing women to attend together.

We see our appointments as opportunities for couples to explore shared values, healthy relationships dynamics and effective communication skills as the foundation for a positive birth and parenting experience.

Our doula provides a safe space to explore any uncertainties, fears or concerns you may have and it's our pleasure to walk beside you in this time.

We also celebrate and nurture the many benefits unified partnerships have in preparation for birth and beyond.

What is Birth Debriefing?

A birth debrief provides an opportunity for birthing women and their partners to reflect on their birth experience, process emotions, and find closure. It's an essential part of post and prenatal care that allows individuals to share their thoughts and feelings in a safe, caring and non-judgmental space. By exploring the birth journey together, couples can heal, grow, and strengthen their connection as they embrace parenthood in their own way and own time.

Birth debriefs are always available to individuals and couples when they feel ready. There is no right or wrong time during pregnancy or post birth to reach out for support. Some couples engage counselling and birth debriefing as soon as the early days postpartum to many years after. Others feel the need unpack emotions when preparing to conceive or birth another baby.

Why it matters!

Birth debriefing is an essential component of the perinatal period for both parents.  ‘Perinatal’ - refers to the time from conception to the first year postpartum.

Our Doula provides these offerings as a space for couples to come together, validate and express emotions, broaden understanding and gain clarity around their birth experience and circumstances. Additionally, it offers expectant and new parents the opportunity to:

  • heal and process any trauma or unresolved feelings they may still be experiencing following birth or event.

  • enhance communication skills.

  • develop mutual understanding.

  • strengthen relationship bonds.

  • build a deeper connection, and

  • establish a solid support system.

I was referred to Sarah after a traumatic birth and difficult postpartum.

Without reliving the trauma, Sarah asked me some beautifully intuitive questions and helped me to help myself. She restored my sense of resilience and confidence in healing. She glued me back together!

I appreciate her work and how she does it, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to everyone!
