Now it's time to have some fun!

Set the Space

  • When preparing your space consider a comfortable, quiet area where you can relax, light a candle, play some nice music or add your special touches. If you have a journal, it's nice to have it nearby.

  • I like to set up my area by the bed where I can kneel over the steam bowl whilst leaning on my pillow. Find your sweet spot, it's very different for everybody. There is no right or wrong place to steam. It's about where you feel most comfortable.

  • Place a towel on the floor for your bowl sit on. Ensure surface is stable to avoid the bowl from tipping over. Have a second towel ready to fold and wrap around your bowl to protect your legs.

  • Prepare a large cotton sheet, sarong or long flowy skirt to wrap around your lower body when steaming.

  • Looking after your body temperature during a steam is really important. Make sure you have a top you can put on or take off as needed. You can always remove your top if you begin to feel too hot. If you do, place it back on when you finish your steam to maintain your body temperature.

  • Go to the toilet before you steam, as the steam may create a sensation to wee. This is very normal and common.

  • Have some water close by for afterwards.

Preparing Your Herbs

  • Bring 1.5L (6 cups) of water to boil.

  • You will need a bowl that will hold a minimum 1.5L capacity.

  • Turn down heat to a simmer and add your herbs.

  • Simmer for 12 minutes

  • If your blend contains roots or harder pieces, simmer for 15 minutes.

  • Keep lid on your saucepan.

  • Strain your herbs into your bowl.

Time to Get Steamy

  • Very carefully bring your bowl across to your prepared area.

  • Wrap your second towel around the bowl to protect your legs and keep your water warm.

  • Make sure your bowl is feeling safe and sturdy on the ground.

  • Take off all clothing from the waist down.

  • Test the steam temperature by holding the back of your hand above the water.

  • When you feel ready, move into a kneeling position and adjust your pelvis so you can feel the steam pulsing across your vulva and perineal area.

  • Cover your lower body with the sheet or sarong you prepared earlier. This is to ensure a steamy sauna like experience and optimise the healing qualities of the herbs.

  • As you feel the steam pulsing, simply focus on your breath, relax into your chosen position and enjoy.

  • Steam for 10 minutes.

  • It will feel warm and nice. Many women will want to steam for longer. This is not advised without prior consultation.

Post Steam Care

  • Following your steam be sure to make time for rest, hydration and light nourishment.

  • I’d love to hear from you with any further questions you may have following your steam. Custom consultations are always available.
